Your first therapy visit will include an evalution by the appropriate speech, occupational, or physical therapist depending on your prescription.
The evaluation may include assessments of your balance, gait, strength, flexibility, memory, cognition, speech patterns, swallowing, and self-care abilities such as dressing and grooming or eating.
As part of the evaluation you will participate in defining functional goals with your therapist. These goals should be meaningful and are based upon your current level of function as measured by the evaluation and your living situation. We are always seeking to maximize your safety and prevent injury.
Patients and their caregivers may be given home activites to pursue to reinforce techniques and methods learned and practiced during their formal therapy times.
Your follow-up visits to therapy will typically include: a brief review of your home program if any was given, a "check-in" to assess how the prior session went and to answer any questions you might have, and a progression of your rehabilitation program as appropriate to help you attain your goals.
